Katabasis (Spirit & Mantra) embodies a slow descent into the underworld of our own and our collective psyche. An exploration of dark energies, an exorcism and transmutation of the shadow mind through a deeply rooted connection with Spirit and the technology of mantra and meditation. The music depicts a form of loss of ego, a shedding of one`s skin, a way towards transformation and integration of the light and dark aspects of our mind and the waking up to our multi dimensional state of being. It brings together ritual and ceremonial sound practises using a wide array of instrumentation and methodologies.

review: `Katabasis is a collaboration between Russian ambient musician Ens Dormir and Belgian musician and artist ASHTORETH.

this is a very cinematic and very immersive canvas that tells about the journey through the dark cities that have arisen in a post-apocalyptic world in which black magic, the occult and shamanism flourish.
this is a world that is being restored on the ruins of a former civilization in a completely different, dark form.

after a short introduction by Voyager with humming strings and layers of noise through which an ominous growl breaks, the album is divided into two large parts - Mantra and Spirit.

Mantra is full of viscous noisy textures through which barely audible voices break through, disturbing prayers and spells, screams tearing through the sonic darkness, and all this is accompanied by a painful, heavy,

Spirit, on the contrary, is full of soft overflows, it is relaxed and flowing, shedding light and dispelling the darkness of the first part of the album. it is calming, light, relaxed and meditative.

outro - Imago, combines the anxiety of the first part of the album and the beauty of the second, and by taking us through the layers of noise ambient sound completes this journey.
