about

`Pilgrim` is the first in a series of collaborative works between ASHTORETH and Grey Malkin, that was initially released as a limited CD by UK based, house of wyrd, Reverb Worship in June 2018.

The album sold out quickly and got much acclaimed in the music press:

Gonzo Circus Magazine: ` Pilgrim is so much more than just drones, both musicians tell a dark tale, in which a lot a musical variation can be found and that `s what pulls you in completely.`

Merchants of Air: `I think both artists add the right elements to the other one's musical ideas and that is probably the absolute definition of cooperation. I'm not going to pick out a favorite track, although I seem to enjoy the title track the most. But if you want my advice, it will be this: if you have about forty minutes to spare and you want to roam through a completely different world, a whole new fantasy, this album is a perfect soundtrack. Press play, lay down, close your eyes and allow the master craft of these two talented artists guide you through your own imagination. It will be worth it…`

Dark Entries: ` The Shivering Mountain is a very good example of what is meant with minimal drones. All sorts of things happen in the 15 minute timespan of the track , but the whole is so meticulously worked on that these differences seem to pass by in a very natural manner.`

Marc Barton (Sunday Experience): One of those don’t look behind you releases, an impenetrable terror-phonic titan gloomed and blooded in macabre bewitchment and sinister shadow falls that endows it with all the appearance of some hitherto magical domain caught in the fractures of reality. The haunting vibes both uncanny and eerie serve an unearthly chill, the slow paced footfall crunches, its ceremonial shimmering and ne’er do well utterances all gather in dark celebration recanting a foretelling from the dark side.`

Cursed Monk Records and Deer Trail Records join forces now to re-issue `Pilgrim`, in order to make this album available to a wider audience.

To make the whole experience something worthwhile, the artists conjured up some of their musical friends and let them choose a track from the album to re-imagine.
This remix album is the result of nine artists giving their musical perspective on the sounds produced by ASHTORETH and Grey Malkin and will be released as a 2xCD, 4 panel digipack in December 2018, containing both the original album as well as the remixes.
